Embed a custom font in your template

Five steps to make a non‑standard font travel with your file, so it renders correctly on any machine — even ones that don't have the font installed.

Install the font on your machine skip if already installed

Embedding only captures a font that PowerPoint can already see. Locate the .ttf or .otf file, right‑click it, and choose Install.

Apply it as the template's theme font

Open View → Slide Master. On the Slide Master tab, click Fonts → Customize Fonts and set it as the Heading and/or Body font.

Turn on font embedding

Back out of Slide Master, then go to File → Options → Save. Near the bottom, check Embed fonts in the file.

Choose how much of the font to embed

Once the checkbox is on, two sub‑options appear. Pick based on whether teammates need to keep editing text.

Embed all characters — larger file, fully editable by others
Embed only the characters used in the presentation — smaller file, view‑safe only
For a shared corporate template like this one, embed all characters — colleagues will be typing new text with this font, not just viewing it.

Save the file

Click OK to close Options, then save with Ctrl + S. The font embeds into the .pptx at save time — there's no separate export step.

Saved — MyTemplateSans is now embedded in MyTemplateSans Corporate 2026.pptx and will render correctly wherever the file opens.
